Sensations Nest is our independent special school.
Situated in rural Carryduff, we provide small group education for children who have not been able to access special education elsewhere, or who's parents/carers would prefer our environment and approach.

We also offer a Nest Outreach service, which works with local schools to help provide support, training and intervention for children with additional needs who are being educated within mainstream environments.

Nurturing....
Sensations Nest is founded on nurture group principals. We consider children's needs from a developmental perspective (rather than a chronological one), and work on developing happiness and a sense of safety and security in our relationships, before focussing on curriculum skills.

Nest is founded and staffed by qualified professionals, who are experts in special education. We pride ourselves on providing top quality early intervention and support for children and families at all stages in their educational journeys.

All of our team members are highly trained and often have lived experience of Special Educational Needs. We have access to specialist knowledge and skills which are tailored to your child's individual learning profile, and we draw on experiences from our entire team in order to meet the needs of the child holistically.
Therapeutic....
Sensations Nest is a therapeutic environment. We work on developing a sense of safety, happiness and wellbeing, and believe that children learn best when they are at ease and confident. We utilise the outdoors and spend lots of time with nature and animals to help bring about a sense of wellbeing. Our staff are also trained in therapies such as Theraplay, Intensive Interaction, Indian Head massage, Reflexology, Musical Hydrotherapy and many more approaches to help children and families.
